Join Charlotte Malin (strings), Sophie Lippert (piano), and special guest John Hughes (kora) for an engaging and uplifting afternoon of classical music and cross-genre collaborations.

Featuring a dynamic multi-genre array of solo and collaborative music – from brilliant modern classical pieces for violin and piano, to stunning poetic musings for kora and voice, to soulful global folk songs – this innovative concert will offer a new and refreshing take on chamber music. Music by Emahoy Tsegue-Maryam Guebrou, Karen Tanaka, Betty Jackson King, and other global composers will be showcased, along with original compositions by Malin, Hughes, and Lippert. The set will include stories and playful interactivity, and audience members will be invited to participate as artistic co-creators – collectively harnessing the transformative and healing power of community. All are welcome for this vitalizing and inspiring afternoon!

Free childcare, provided by skilled early-childhood professionals, is available for families with children ages 6+ months, and parents and caregivers are warmly invited to attend.

Connections Concert Series is a partnership between Valley-based musicians, teachers and creative entrepreneurs Sophie Lippert and Charlotte Malin. The series is a re-imagining of the traditional concert experience that addresses our society’s growing need for meaningful human connection. At Connection Concerts, the audience is invited to listen somatically, imaginatively, and intellectually; to engage in conversations with strangers about their experience; and to explore music written by underrepresented composers from around the world. Connections Concerts is proudly sponsored by Falcetti Pianos and the Amherst Cultural Council.
