Join Música Franklin for our 7th Annual Fun Fest, a free festival of live music, crafts, and activities for all ages! Enjoy live music by world-class artists, shop local craft vendors, get your face painted, try out a musical instrument at our “petting zoo”, and grab a bite from Stone Soup Cafe on-site. Don’t miss the fun, happening Saturday, May 10th from 12:30-5:15 at Unity Park in downtown Turners Falls. In case of rain, Fun Fest will take place at Greenfield High School. After the main event, keep the party going at The Rendezvous, where Jazzkia, led by world-renowned trumpeter Saskia Laroo, will perform from 7:00-8:00pm then host a public jam session from 8:30-10:00pm.
Fun Fest will feature a vibrant line-up of performers, including Jazzkia Meets HipHop, Larksgrove, Música Franklin students, Orquesta Sensacional, and the Turners Falls High School Music Department. The day will also include an interactive drum circle led by Abdou Sarr, a dance party for all ages led by Anne Cubberly’s Giant Puppet Pinto Bean, and an arts and crafts activity led by Artspace.
Música Franklin is a free after-school music and social justice program for students in grades 1-12 in Franklin County. Our mission is preparing students for a brighter future through music. Youth in the program gain skills that will help them succeed throughout their lives while also learning to play an instrument.
Fun Fest is funded in part by the New England States Touring program of the New England Foundation for the Arts, made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts Regional Touring Program and the six New England state arts agencies. Fun Fest is also funded in part by grants from the Greenfield, Montague, and Gill Cultural Councils, local agencies which are supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. Fun Fest is made possible by the generous support of the following businesses and institutions: Mass Cultural Council, RiverCulture, Greenfield Savings Bank, Greenfield Cooperative Bank, Paul Redeker Rental Company, Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts, Amanda Abramson Coldwell Banker Community Realtors, Franklin County Community Development Corporation, and Artspace.
