The Holyoke Community College Theater Department will present A Bright New Boise, by Samuel D. Hunter

After a tragic incident that resulted in the dissolution of his church, Will, age 39, is trying to reconnect with his teenage son Alex, who has been estranged since birth. To do so he applies for a job at Hobby Lobby in Boise Idaho where Alex is working for the summer. The store is managed by Pauline, a staunch advocate for order in a world of retail chaos. Also working at the store are Leroy, Alex’s fiercely protective older brother and Anna, a sweet and somewhat lost twenty-something.

A Bright New Boise was written by Samuel D. Hunter (Author of The Whale) and first produced in 2010 by Partial Comfort Productions at The Wild Project in New York City. The play earned Hunter a 2011 Obie Award for Playwriting. Hunter was born and raised in Moscow, Idaho and now lives in New York.
