A Celebration of Hildegard of Bingen
Date/Time
Location
Grace Episcopal Church (14 Boltwood Ave, Amherst, MA 1004, Amherst MA)
Grace Episcopal Church will host *A Celebration of Hildegard of Bingen* on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. This unique event will honor the life, music, and prophetic voice of the 12th-century Benedictine abbess, composer, and mystic.
Through music, imagery, and spoken word, the program will bring to life the world of Hildegard, whose visionary works continue to captivate and inspire nearly a thousand years after her death. The event will feature excerpts from *Ordo Virtutum*, Hildegard’s allegorical morality play, performed alongside projected images of her original illuminations. Interwoven throughout the program will be selections from her prayers, poems, and theological writings.
Organized around four central themes in Hildegard’s work—greening (viriditas), usefulness, speaking truth to power, and mysticism—the celebration invites attendees to reflect on the relevance of her insights in our own time. This multimedia, meditative experience is open to the public and free of charge. Donations are always welcome.
