MaConnia Chesser stars in the one-person show that transforms Homer’s epic poem into a riveting contemorary monologue. Drawn from Robert Fagles’ translation and crafted around the stories of Achilles and Hector with language that is both poetic and conversational, An Iliad refreshes a world classic, creating a powerful piece of theater that explores the human compulsion toward violence.

MaConnia Chesser, Company member at Shakespeare & Company and New Jersey Repertory Theatre, has performed widely, including in Shakespeare & Company’s King Lear in summer 2021, in many performances with WAM Theatre and in the Actors’ Shakespeare Project, Berkshire Playwrights Lab, Chester Theatre, Kennedy Center, NJ Rep, Theater Alliance, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Tennessee Shakespeare, York Shakespeare, African Continuum Theatre,Totem Pole Playhouse, & Folger Theatre.
