Artist Pop-up at Printed Mass: Akemi's Studio

Join us for a special Artist Spotlight Pop-Up during September’s Easthampton Art Walk as we welcome Akemi’s Studio to Printed Mass!

Akemi Rice, originally from Japan, brings over a decade of experience in the delicate and time-honored craft of Nantucket basket weaving, which she has taught at GrayMist Studio in Cambridge, MA. For this event, she’ll be demonstrating her beautiful woven creations alongside her handcrafted jewelry, made in collaboration with her daughter — a creative duo blending traditional techniques with contemporary flair.

In addition to her fiber and jewelry artistry, Akemi is a gardener, soap maker, and Kokedama plant enthusiast. Her deep connection to nature and craftsmanship shines through in every piece she creates — thoughtful, textural, and rich with heritage.
