Bernice Massé Rosenthal - A Retrospective

Date/Time

Location

Burnett Gallery at the Jones Library (during libary hours) (43 Amity Street, Amherst, MA 01002, Amherst MA)

Bernice Massé Rosenthal’s work over a span of five decades will be on exhibit at the Burnett Gallery during library hours at the Jones at 43 Amity Street, Amherst, from April 2 through April 29. The opening reception will be on Sunday, April 2, from 2:00 until 4:30 pm.

Bernice’s maxim was *Transforming Discard into Beauty and Meaning.* As an inveterate recycler, she found objects that were discarded and presumed useless or offcuts from woodworking projects that became the wood assemblages for which she is known. Also shown will be examples of her paintings and collage along. Whimsy is to be found along with the serious. Her approach to art was imaginative in concept, deliberate in process, skilled in technique and meticulous in execution. Regrettably, Bernice was lost to Covid in early 2022, so this will be posthumous show.
