Book launch: THE JAZZ BARN by John Gennari, with photos by Clemens Kalischer

"The Jazz Barn: Music Inn, the Berkshires, and the Place of Jazz in American Life" tells the story of what happened in the 1950s in a barn, an icehouse, and a greenhouse in the verdant Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts. UVM Prof. John Gennari explores the premise that the locations where jazz is played and heard indelibly shape the music and its meanings. The book includes iconic photos by Clemens Kalischer (1921-2018), whose works will be on exhibit in the Welles Gallery. Books will be available for purchase at the launch.
