Alfred McCoy Tyner (1938-2020) was a jazz pianist and composer known for his work with the John Coltrane Quartet in the 1960s. He was an NEA Jazz Master and five-time Grammy award winner. He has been widely imitated and is one of the most recognizable and influential pianists in history. In this salon, jazz pianist, composer and Presidential Scholar Jason Moran shares insights into Tyner's work in a lecture-demonstration.This event is part of the Presidential Scholars program.It is Free and open to the public.
