Community Shout with Reggie Wilson / Fist and Heel Performance Group

Join artists Reggie Wilson and Michel Kouakou of Reggie Wilson/Fist and Heel Performance Group for this welcoming workshop. Community Shouts are joyful, participatory sing-alongs that invite people to connect with their rhythmic voices, bodies, and one another. Through songs, rhythms, and storytelling from Africa and the African Diaspora — including the Caribbean and the American South — participants explore shared traditions and cultural connections. No prior experience is needed, and everyone is encouraged to participate at their own comfort level. Open to all participants ages 18+; Participants aged 12-17 may attend if accompanied by a participating adult.

Reggie Wilson/Fist and Heel Performance Group creates dance and multi-disciplinary performance work, which often articulates the intricate relationship individuals and communities have to ritual, their bodies and their cultures. Workshops offered by the Company are a reflection of its performance articulation and these concerns.
