Disability on Film: Exploitation and Representation in Early Cinema
Date/Time
Location
Sunderland Public Library (20 School Street, Sunderland, MA 01375, Sunderland MA)
Join us for an enlightening evening learning about how disability was portrayed in early cinema, both in exploitative and representational ways. The 1932 film "Freaks," by Tod Browning will be screened. Emme Geryk, a disability advocate and staff member at North Star: Self-Directed Learning for Teens, will lead a Q & A after the film to provide additional context and understanding. This event is hosted by Theodore Higby, a 4th year student at North Star with a deep passion for classic film.
