Self-Evident Education is joining the nationwide Fall of Freedom movement with a documentary double feature and participatory discussion. The screening will feature two short films — *If Knowledge is the Key* and *Freedom’s Battle at Christiana* — exploring how race and racism were intentionally built into the early U.S. legal system and legacies of that history. *If Knowledge is the Key* explores the story of a bi-racial woman in 1600's Virginia and her suit for freedom. *Freedom’s Battle at Christiana*, produced for the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, tells the story of an organized and armed resistance to the Fugitive Slave Act. A discussion moderated by Michael Lawrence-Riddell, Self-Evident's executive director, Ibrahim Ali, Self-Evident Organizational Strategist, and Professor Ousmane Power-Greene will follow.
