From Just a Snapshot to Art: Creating Beautiful Garden Photographs
Date/Time
Location
Thayer Memorial Library (717 Main St,, Lancaster, MA 01523, Lancaster MA)
Presented by Joanne Pearson of Fair Haven Photographs People often tell our presenter, Joanne Pearson, that her photographs are beautiful. Joanne has spent years learning and honing her craft. Camera gear is just one part of the story. You can take more beautiful photographs if you understand the nuances of natural light, the art of composition and shooting with a vision of the story you want each photograph to tell. Regardless of what camera you use, these are what will lift your photography from run-of-the mill to artistic. In this lecture, Joanne will lead attendees through the art of seeing as a professional photographer does: framing and creating dramatic compositions of overall gardens, landscapes, and close ups. Attendees will learn about balance and movement, when the light is best, what you can do to create better photographs when you don't have optimal light, paths, lines, and more. The lecture is accompanied by a curated slideshow that illustrates the concepts and techniques being presented. This is not a tech-heavy talk, but Joanne will cover some camera and lens basics, including the one piece of equipment I think everyone who is interested in taking better photographs must have in their arsenal. You can see Joanne's work here.
