The single-file call-and-response dances are easy to learn and enjoyed by people of all ages. **Shake out the cabin fever and have fun! Don't forget your rattles!**
As a Culture Bearer, Annawon Weeden (Mashpee Wampanoag, Pequot, Narragansett) continues his efforts to correct misinformation and misrepresentation of Indigenous peoples. He is the Founder and Director of First Light Foundation. He was named for the last Wampanoag warrior to surrender to the colonial army after King Philip’s War in 1676. 2026 is the 350th anniversary of this event. Honored Guests representing neighboring Homelands will include Liz Coldwind Santana-Kiser, Elder, Council Woman, Educator, and Tribal Historic Preservation Officer for the Chaubunagungamaug Band of Nipmuck Indians; Shawn Stevens, a member of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans, cultural & historical educator, spiritualist, and storyteller; and his sister, Wanonah Kosbab, also a member of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans, a cultural revitalization advocate focused on environmental stewardship and mental health,; and Dan Shears, Material Culture Advisor for the Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk Abenaki Tribe’s Cultural and Historic Preservation Department. David Brule, Nehantic Tribal Council, President of the Nolumbeka Project Boatd, will be the emcee.
