SCDT is pleased to welcome the ELEVENTH season of HUT—the interdisciplinary performance series presented by SCDT and co-curated by dancer Jennifer Polins, writer Jay Keery Weingarten, and sound artist Jake Meginsky. HUT showcases three artists in three short sets in an evening of music, words, and movement.

HUT's roster of local and internationally recognized contemporary artists including among others Caliph Ali, Steve Baczkowski, Shura Baryshnikov, Chris Corsano, Joy Davis, Paul Flaherty, Jacob Fried, Jenifer Gelineau, Steve Gunn, Sean D. Henry-Smith, Kathleen Hermesdorf, Ben Hersey, K.J. Holmes, Jaamil Olawale Kosoko, Matt Krefting, Jason Lesceleet, Emily Lukasewski, V. THE ARTISTS

SARAH KONNER & AUSTIN SELDON have been creating dances together since 2007. Their work and friendship are intertwined and the dances they make stem from their history together. Sarah and Austin have shown their work at the Detroit Institute of Art, Danspace Project, the Dance Complex, Arthur Miller Theater, Berkshire Fringe Festival, FLICfest, Judson Church, Dance New Amsterdam, Triskelion Arts, AWARD Show! Philadelphia, and the Kennedy Center. Sarah teaches Contact Improvisation and has recently worked with ChavasseDance&Performance, Jeanine Durning, Shura Baryshnikov, Kendell Geers, and setGo Performance. She is a current MFA candidate at Smith College; holds a BFA in Dance and a BS in Environmental Science from the University of MI; and is certified in Yoga, Pilates, and Body-Mind Centering®. Austin holds a BFA in Dance from the University of MI, a certification in Pilates, and is a Licensed Massage Therapist He worked with Shen Wei Dance Arts from 2011-2017 and currently works with Mimi Garrard.

CHRISSY MARTIN is an interdisciplinary performance artist and movement educator with roots in contemporary dance forms, postmodern experimental music, and physical theater. Chrissy blends contemporary dance and language/voice to rigorously examine her intersecting queer and neurodivergent identities.She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in music with a focus on social praxis from New College of Florida in 2010. She has performed with Sarasota Contemporary Dance, Muscle Memory Dance Theatre, Danielle Georgiou Dance Group, Dead White Zombies, Megan Rhyme Dance, BodyCompass Dance Projects, and Ayako Kato/Art Union Humanscape. Somatic practices such as Pilates, Gyrotonic ® Expansion System, Body Mind Centering and Laban/Bartenieff Fundamentals inform Chrissy’s integrated movement style, and she is a certified Pilates and Gyrotonic ® instructor.

Martin is an avid member of the global contact improvisation community and has studied with Nancy Stark Smith, KJ Holmes, Nita Little, Scott Wells and Kirstie Simpson. She has been a facilitator and leader of the Chicago Contact Improvisation Jam and has taught various CI workshops around the Midwest. She has taught dance improvisation at Columbia College Chicago and DePaul University, as well as social dance and social emotional learning skills to public school students in the greater Chicago area. She has produced independent dance/voice works at Links Hall and Hamlin Park in Chicago and Light Box in Detroit.
