On Mondays beginning Sept. 28 at the Second Congregational Church in Greenfield, local theater artists Moo Butler and Hannah Harvester will offer a ten-week class series, The Joy of Red Nose Clown. Beginner participants will begin the process of discovering their own unique clown persona through theater exercises and games. As a bonus, students will also have the option to stay for an additional hour and watch fully-formed clowns play.
No experience is necessary to join the class. “All that is required is the willingness to be seen,” says Harvester. “We don’t do tricks or slapstick; it’s about being willing to be your own stupid self.”
The workshop is offered on a sliding scale of $250-400 for the ten-week series. Register by emailing rednoseclownwesternmass@gmail.com. Please register by September 25.
Butler and Harvester teach a form of theatrical clowning developed by Giovanni Fusetti of Padua, Italy.
