Just for Us — Alex Edelman

Date/Time

Location

Williamstown Theatre Festival (1000 Main St., Williamstown, MA 01267, Williamstown MA)

Alex Edelman, an internationally touring stand-up comedian based in New York City — named Best Newcomer at the 2014 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, takes the audience through hilarious anecdotes from his own life — his Olympian brother AJ, an unconventional holiday season, and a gorilla that can do sign language – but at its center is an astonishing and frighteningly relevant story.

After a string of anti-Semitic abuse is directed at Edelman online, he decides to covertly attend a gathering of White Nationalists in New York City and comes face to face with the people behind the keyboards. The result is a hair-raising encounter that gives Just For Us its title and final, jaw-dropping twist.

Edelman’s comedy has continued to win acclaimed — Everything Handed to You, about identity and the availability of outlets in airports, sold out its entire Edinburgh run, garnering the second best reviews of any comedy show at the Festival.

Just for Us is his third show, and in its premiere run at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, it was nominated for a Barry Award for Best Show. In Edinburgh it earned a Herald Angel Award, a nomination for Best Show and praise that made it the best reviewed comedy show at the Festival in a decade.

Besides Edinburgh and Melbourne, Just for Us has had several extended runs in London’s West End at the Soho Theatre, the prestigious comedy haunt where many of Edelman’s solo efforts have premiered. The show has also been presented at Just For Laughs in Montreal, at the Bell House for New York Comedy Festival, Off-Broadway at the Lucille Lortel Theater and on a three-month, COVID-truncated UK tour.

This show will be taking to the Main Stage for six performances from August 3 to 6.
