More Waters Rising: A Choral Concert on the Theme of Food Equity

Date/Time

Location

Grace Episcopal Church (14 Boltwood Ave., Amherst, MA 01002, Amherst MA)

Local chamber choir Novi Cantori is pleased to present More Waters Rising, a choral concert focused on the issue of food equity, on May 21, 2022 at 7 pm at Grace Episcopal Church in Amherst. The concert will feature music from Saunder Choi, Moira Smiley, Bernice Johnson Reagon and Shireen Abu-Khader, among others, and the pieces connect to the role of food in community, systemic barriers to access, immigration policy, and climate change. There is a suggested donation of $20, but we encourage attendees to pay what they can, and no one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Proceeds for the event will be donated to the Amherst Survival Center; a representative from the organization will speak about the importance of the issue, and provide resources and action steps for positive change. Visit www.novicantori.org for more information.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Amherst Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
