Gene Rork and Evelyn Villa:

Our photographs show scenes that we encountered and would like to share with others. Our inspiration has been the clear and exquisite images of Eliot Porter and Ansel Adams, and so we have tried to capture interesting flora and fauna images of our natural world in different seasons. Most images are of local scenes, but some are from our travels to Australia.

At first, G.R. used a 4x5-inch sheet-film view camera with movements until 2016, when superb, affordable digital cameras became available. Then, tilt and shift lenses enabled view camera movements to achieve foreground and background scenes in focus. Now, some scenes are recorded with superb cameras in cell phones.

We hope that everyone seeing this exhibit will come away feeling better about our  natural world with renewed desire to take care of it.

The Town Hall Art Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Exhibits are coordinated by the Amherst Public Art Commission, and artists are invited to apply to have their work displayed for a two-month exhibit.
