Outdoor film — The Iron Giant

Date/Time

Location

Clark Art Institute (225 South Street, Williamstown, MA 01267, Williamstown MA)

The Clark will screen The Iron Giant (1999) free outdoors on the lawn, telling the story of a boy Hogarth who is fascinated by the extra-terrestrial.

In a small town in Maine in 1957 (in the time of the Cold War, in the year of the Sputnik launch), he is the only one to take seriously a fisherman’s frantic reports of the landing of a metal giant, and his search is rewarded by the sighting of a metal crunching, electricity-immune 50-footer in the forest. The fim is based on Ted Hughes’ children’s book, from director Brad Bird, who is now known also for later films like The Incredibles.
