Beloved Paul Winter Consort Winter Solstice Celebration Returns to Great Barrington for 2 Shows on December 19.

A celebrated musical tradition that has welcomed winter’s solstice for more than 40 years returns to Saint James Place. Seven-time Grammy®-winning saxophonist Paul Winter and the Paul Winter Consort will headline a month of concerts and events with two performances of the ensemble’s beloved Winter Solstice Celebration on Saturday, December 19, at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

For generations of audiences, Paul Winter’s Winter Solstice Celebration has been a distinctive holiday-season experience, blending jazz, classical music, global rhythms, the sounds of nature, and ancient solstice traditions. For many years, the celebration was presented on a grand scale at New York City’s Cathedral of Saint John the Divine. In Great Barrington, audiences experience the music in the dramatically different—and more intimate—acoustically-acclaimed setting of Saint James Place.

Powerhouse vocalist Theresa Thomason will be featured in the ensemble’s Solstice Celebrations, as she has been for more than 25 years.
