PrayerFormance Peace Concert with Gabriel Meyer Halevy

Bombyx Center for Arts & Equity (130 Pine Street, Florence MA)

Prayerformance Peace Concert

Gabriel Meyer Halevy is an incredible musician-radical peace activist whose transformative work has the power to heal. PrayerFormance is an interactive concert that journeys from intimate prayer to ecstatic "danceable" joy, bridging hearts, peoples and cultures, songs, stories of cross-cultural connections, peacemaking and humor even beyond enemy lines. A cultural puzzle interconnecting through many languages: English, Spanish, Arabic, Hebrew, Urdu & Sanskrit. Gabriel weaves stories of peacework, pain and reconcilation in Israel/Palestine.

Described as “a hypnotizing, contagious and poetic experience,” Gabriel’s music brings World beat Fusion, sacred, heart songs, poetry and prayers from around the world, drawing from ancient Hebrew, Prophetic and Universal Wisdom, with folk and original songs that blend and celebrate earth, life, the mystical, and the Human Spirit. With Gabriel on vocals, storytelling and guitar, comes the multi-talented musician Horacio Martinez who will play guitar, charango, sikus, quena, kalimba, bombo and vocals.

In these tough times, when uncertainty, division and violence are prevalent and highlighted in our world, come replenish with joy and surprise reality to change with "Prayerformance," bridging hearts and cultures.

A portion of the Concert will benefit and to promote awareness for Standing Together's grassroots Arab-Jewish mobilization for peace and justice in Israel/Palestine, to end the war in Gaza, bring humanitarian aid and get a hostage deal and ceasefire agreement, and work for a shared society.  Co-sponsored by Bombyx Center for Arts & Equity and Beit Ahavah Reform Synagogue of Greater Northampton, in collaboration with Florence Congregational Church, Jewish Community of Amherst, Lander-Grinspoon Academy, Brattleboro Area Jewish Community-Shir Heharim,, ALEPH Alliance for Jewish Renewal, Friends of Standing Together Western MA Chapter.  Major funding by Harold Grinspoon Foundation.
