Members of the Schrade and James families, several generations, have attracted a loyal following of audiences and press extending to many parts of the world. Individually, they have received dozens of awards and accolades, and their much-loved group appearances have always been full of surprises. As the nucleus of this festival, family members have played the opening concert for all of Sevenars' 55 years. This year’s program will include solos and duos played by David James (piano), Rorianne Schrade (piano), Lynelle James (piano), and Christopher James (cello). Lynelle and Christopher will include Debussy's Sonata for cello and piano, also included in their exciting Weill Hall debut as a duo at Carnegie Hall in NY this spring. David James will salute Rachmaninoff's 150th Anniversary with several Preludes. Also included will be music by the late Ned Rorem (celebrating his 100th anniversary this year), Lalo (celebrating his 200th anniversary), and Milhaud (celebrating being Milhaud!). In addition will be the premiere of a two-piano Sibelius transcription made by Rorianne as well as a few more surprises TBA.
