Sevenars is delighted to present, as our Young Artist to Watch 2025, outstanding young Taiwanese pianist Ching-Yi Lin, in a program that continues our Ravel's 150th celebration with the composer's Tombeau de Couperin and little-known La parade (first published in 2008), plus masterpieces of Bach and Schumann. Mr. Lin is quickly gaining recognition in Europe, Asia, and the US, having won First Prize and the Commissioned Prize in the Taipei Taiwan International Piano Competition, as well as prizes in the Texas State International Piano Competition (performing with the Central Texas Philharmonic), Marbella International Piano Competition (Spain), Beethoven International Piano Competition (Singapore), and Metropolitan International Piano Competition (New York) among other distinctions. As winner of the Howard County Arts Council Rising Star Awards Competition in 2023, he played a recital tour celebrating Rachmaninoff’s 150th birthday. In addition to his solo engagements, Mr. Lin is active in chamber music, playing with members of Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and other illustrious musicians. He completed his Bachelor of Music degree at Soochow University in Taiwan and received his MM and DMA degrees from the Peabody Institute as recipient of the Richard Franko Goldman Prize in Performance under the tutelage of Alexander Shtarkman.
