The Amherst College Department of Theater and Dance will bring its spring semester to an exciting conclusion with a night of original performances by Five College dance and theater students, along with compelling new choreography by Professor Jenna Riegel.

Students will present original works developed over the semester in Professor Wendy Woodson’s long-running "Solo Performance" class. They will feature "Cathexis" by Julian Brown (AC ’23), "Uncaged" by Yaa Obeng (AC ’22), "Dark Night and Wings" by Yang Sun (AC’23), "sus[pend]." by Mykelle Walton (FP ’24) and "Shapeshifter" by Hee Won Youn (AC ’23). The performance will conclude with a new choreographic work collaboratively crafted by Jenna Riegel and the students of her contemporary repertory dance class entitled "are we all made to be broken?"

Exploring wide-ranging elements of the human experience, from fear and the unknown to our perceptions of freedom and time, "Solo Performance and Repertory Project" is a powerful assortment of creative work from a diverse group of emerging artists.
