Strings at the Strong House
Amherst History Museum (67 Amity Street, Amherst Center, MA 01002, Amherst Center MA)
This year’s series, titled Strings at the Strong, hosts a variety of local classical musicians with a focus on chamber music. The series will open on August 6 with the Belle Musica Ensemble, a group of local musicians featuring flute, keyboard and strings. It continues on August 13 with a performance of solo cello by Ignacy Gaydomovic and August 27th the quintet Colrain Fine Arts will perform. The series concludes Labor Day Weekend with a September 3 concert by the Cushman String Quartet.
The concerts which will take place on Saturdays at 2:00 are free and open to the public, thanks to the generous support of sponsor Stamell Stringed Instruments and a grant from the Amherst Cultural Council. In the event of the rain, the concert will be held the following day, Sunday, at 2:00 pm. The Trustees encourage attendees to pack a picnic lunch, (amazing offerings can be found at the Amherst Farmers Market as well as a variety of local eateries), bring lawn chairs or a blanket and enjoy the peaceful, historic setting.
