Symphony Hall, Of Heroes And Poets

We bring heroic and poetic music to life through the voices of three of music’s most interesting characters. The prolific and under-appreciated American composer William Grant Still was inspired by the evocative and rhythmic dance music of Panama. Bohemian composer Antonin Dvořák, often inspired by folk music, gives Cuban-American cellist Thomas Mesa the perfect vehicle to share his passion and artistry in his mammoth and definitive Cello Concerto. Our concert concludes with the second symphony of Robert Schumann, the great Romantic composer of songs and symphonies, whose lyrical gifts are unparalleled.
