The Commonheart – the 8-piece Pittsburgh powerhouse led by firey frontman Clinton Clegg – has won fans over with a sound “so explosive it could summon a biblical thunderstorm” (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette). Among its ranks are female backup singers, drums, bass, guitar, a horn section, and keyboards. Out front is Clinton, a lightning bolt charismatic frontman with dynamically expressive pipes that effortlessly traverse bluesy pleading, and honeyed balladeering. Onstage and in the studio, Clinton evokes Joe Cocker, B.B. King, Al Green, Otis Redding, and Sam Cooke. The band has shared the stage with Gary Clark Jr. and performed on the Outlaw Music Festival tour with Willie Nelson, Van Morrison, Sturgill Simpson and more. The Commonheart’s gritty, redemptive brand of rock n’ soul offers commanding vocals amid a Stax-style soul review. Clegg delivers unforgettable sweat-soaked performances that bring fans to their feet.
