Jane Timken is a former Byzantinist, publisher and letterpress printer turned painter. In her statement about this work she says “Covid and three moves directed my focus to the challenging world of watercolors, and an exploration of past masters of this difficult medium. Collage allowed me to abstract the image, as well as make alterations not possible with watercolor.”
