The LAVA Center hosts a monthly series, Writers Read, on the second Wednesday every month. Coordinated by Lindy Whiton, the series brings in local writers and a couple of outside surprises. $5 suggested donation.

Reading in May will be Beth Ann Jedziniak, Rev. Sherril Willis and Susannah Crolius, M. Div.

Beth Ann Jedziniak has a passion for the written and spoken word. Her speech titled “My VaJourney” was recorded for “Claim the Stage” podcast and published in the collection, Secrets of the Sisterhood: 50 Stories of Love, Truth and Power. Her essays have been on exhibit at Forbes Library, published online at Write Angles Journal and included in two additional anthologies, Freshwater Literary Journal and Keeping It Under Wraps: Bodies. Most evenings, you can find her at her desk, digging her way out of the past — one syllable at a time.

Rev. Sherril Willis has published three collections of poems and has had several individual poems published. Sherril retired from public school teaching after thirty-seven years. She worked as a third and fourth grade teacher, reading specialist and math, writing and reading interventionist. She is also an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. In her retirement she enjoys preaching, quilting, reading, writing and kayaking.

Susannah Crolius, M. Div. (she/her/hers) is a spiritual director, workshop/retreat leader, artist and writer. An ordained minister in the United Church of Christ for over 25 years serving congregations and hospices as Chaplain, Bereavement Coordinator and Death Educator, Susannah chose to step away from denominational identity and institutional ministry to explore more generative and contemplative forms of spiritual community and practice. She will be reading selections from her upcoming spiritual memoir entitled Finding My Words. Find out more at www.artandsoulwm.org.
