LAVA hosts this monthly series, Writers Read, on the second Wednesday every month. Coordinated by Lindy Whiton, the series brings in local writers and a couple of outside surprises. Continue to look for each month’s cast, for the year is already booked with people we are excited to bring to our Center. $5 suggested donation.

Reading in February will be David Ram, Bob Barba, and Edite Cunhã.

DAVID RAM taught at HCC and GCC from which he retired as a professor of English. Ram lived in Franklin County for three decades then resettled in Easthampton where he enjoys working on poems, rowing on the pond, and hanging out with his wife, kids and grandkids.

BOB BARBA graduated from Ohio University a long time ago with an English degree, which led directly to his first job as a cracker baker. He has published both narrative non-fiction and poetry in a very short and eclectic list of very minor publications. His earliest inspiration to write poetry came from his brilliant oldest sister, Rose, and he was later encouraged by several amazing teachers.

EDITE CUNHÃ is a writer, artist, teacher and activist. Her fiction has been published both locally and nationally and won awards and fellowships including Smith’s Spencer Prize for Excellence in Writing, AWP’s Intro Writing Award and the Tara Fellowship for short fiction. Cunhã has a BA from Smith College and an MFA from Warren Wilson College. She lives in Turners Falls, MA.
