HomeFront Strong, (HFS), is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing resilience among service members, veterans, and their families. Our approach is rooted in values that emphasize community, connection, and belonging.
Our chief program, HomeFront Strong Storytelling, provides a culturally sensitive space for service members, veterans, and their family members to explore, refine, and share their stories related to service. This is a multifaceted program that includes a variety of access points, such as:
- Being paired with a trained, military-connected volunteer to work on developing your story utilizing our interactive storytelling guide
- Joining a creative storytelling workshop session that engaged participants in reflecting on their own stories as well as receiving stories of service
- Entering our annual Shaped by Service Art Show where we showcase work created by members of the military community and provide opportunities for the artists to share the stories behind their work
The HFS Storytelling Program is part of a broader community-based effort to increase a sense of belonging and access to resources among service members, veterans, and their families. Each program is designed with models for resilience in mind, including:
- HomeFront Strong Connects: a community peer support program that provides frequent check-ins, access to food delivery, and other social/emotional supports provided by military-connected volunteers with the support of HFS staff
- HomeFront Strong Morning Coffee: a monthly drop-in center in Three Rivers, hosted in partnership with the Monson Veterans Service Officer and AmVets Post 74, where information is exchanged, presenters inform attendees of resources available to them, and refreshments along with chair massage are provided
- HomeFront Strong Community Partner Initiatives: the space where we work with other organizations to provide programming that supports our mission of enhancing resilience within the military community such as the Veterans Mediation Training and Outdoors hike & heal initiative with North Quabbin Trails Association.
