The Homelands PowWow is an annual cultural arts celebration and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to reconnecting the Stockbridge‑Munsee Mohican people with their ancestral homelands in the Berkshire region of Western New England. Our mission is to honor Mohican history, strengthen cultural identity, and support Tribal members traveling from their Reservation in Wisconsin to return to these sacred lands.
Each year, the Homelands PowWow brings together community, culture, and the arts through a vibrant weekend of Indigenous dancing, drumming, live music, arts, crafts, food, and Native vendors, along with cultural demonstrations, storytelling, and hands‑on learning experiences. Visitors can explore Native artisan booths, enjoy traditional and contemporary foods, experience powerful drum groups, and witness Woodland‑style regalia in motion. The event uplifts Indigenous artists, makers, performers, and cultural educators while fostering cross‑cultural understanding and community connection.
The Homelands PowWow is a family‑friendly event where all are welcome — children, teens, adults, and elders alike. We strive to create a warm, inclusive space where people of all ages can learn, celebrate, and experience Indigenous culture together.
Ticket sales and donations directly fund this annual event, helping provide travel and lodging support for Mohican families returning to their homelands. The Homelands PowWow location may change each year to reflect community partnerships and cultural needs; the 2026 PowWow will be held at Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA.
