John Romanski

Artist / Creative (Individual)

I am a visual artist working primarily in painting and photography. My early artwork was in photography with a dose of painting. Back then an artist could make a good living in photography in comparison to painting, so there were opportunities to consider. Since then, photography has changed over the years with respect to the process. Digital photography has opened up new doors of exploration. However, I prefer traditional photography over the present day technology.

As photography evolved more into digital, I preferred the manual skills of painting. Painting has been my primary interest for quite some time. There have been some detours which have taken me down the road of drawing, sculpture and assemblage. I have also worn the hats of a curator and writer on a number of occasions.

Subject matter may sometimes intertwine with photography and painting. I use the different methods of of painting and photography to explore  how I can render a subject within the confines of these two mediums.
