Call for Art ; "art-i-face"
Type: Exhibition
art·i·face is a juried open call to artists internationally, working with materials in a surprising manner. While most utilitarian objects have a specific use, artists often transform their purpose in a new and surprising way. consider Robert Rauschenberg’s combines where objects are removed from their use and put together into a sculpture-painting hybrid, becoming art itself; El Anatsui’s transformation of bottle caps into installed wall hangings; Ingrid Calame’s paintings featuring shapes traced from forgotten stains on the street; or Rachel Whiteread’s unconventional casting sculptures.
Consider the ways you may have a secondary use or process within your work, using jigs, templates, casts, molds, scraps, detritus, found objects, as a way of working, subject matter, or abstracting.
Submissions are due november 20. The entry fee is $5, but free for students with the code STUDENT26. this exhibition is juried by Andrew Nordin.
