Gabrielle Revlock is an artist and educator, whose work is influenced by postmodern dance, experimental theater, conceptual art and compassionate communication. In her work she often isolates and contrasts specific moods, themes, behaviors and visual ideas to create moments of absurdity, joy, humor, surprise, and empathy. In 2020 she was awarded a "Bessie" New York City Dance and Performance Award for her interactive performance Nuptial Blitz, and the intimate duet, SEX TAPE. As a dancer, she has performed for such notable choreographers as Jane Comfort, Susan Marshall, Bill Young, Vicky Shick, Susan Rethorst, and Lucinda Childs. Working at the intersection of wellness and creativity, she is the creator of Restorative Contact, a partner mindful touch and movement practice, and her chapter on the "Therapeutic Applications of Contact Improvisation" is published in the 2024 book, Resistance and Support: Contact Improvisation at 50. Anonymous Apologies, a socially-engaged work that invites the public to contemplate the power of apologies has been presented at Neilson Library on the Smith College campus and at Forbes Library in Northampton, MA. Revlock regularly teaches contact improvisation at festivals worldwide and holds a BA in Art History from Vassar College, and an MFA in Dance from Smith College. More at GabrielleRevlock.com
