Steven Kowalczyk Santoro

Performing Group

I have enjoyed a career as a singer/songwriter and producer/arranger throughout his years in Los Angeles, New York City and New England.  A Professor at Berklee College of Music, I teach on the subjects of Voice, band leading and indie recording. My experience as a former major label recording artist (Atlantic - signed and produced by Ahmet Ertegun), studio session vocalist, indie producer, and touring musician allows me to bring my life in the music business to my work as an educator.

I have performed as a background vocalist for Sting in “A Winter’s Night - Live at Durham Cathedral” (PBS / BBC) and have recorded jingles for major advertisers in the USA and Hong Kong including Canon, Olive Garden, Nickelodeon, NBC, Panasonic and many more.

In the past few years, I have been touring as a headliner in Germany, Austria, and Czech Republic Performing original music along with standard Jazz repertoire.  And while on faculty at Berklee, I have presented workshops for vocalists and  instrumentalists in the USA, Canada , Europe, and Asia, including workshops for “Tour Music Festival” finalists in Rome.

With a degree in Afro-American Music and Jazz from The University of Massachusetts, I am an improvisor in multiple styles, expressing myself musically both in collaboration with live players and as a composer in the digital realm.  I recently recorded an original song cycle entitled, “here.gone.” with the Turtle Island String Quartet. I want to bring it to a stage near you.  As a prolific creator all around, I continue to expand my vision with the  production of my own music videos and short films.

I am also a filmmaker and have an interest in collaborating on projects that are the right fit.  You can also see my film reel on this site. I use Blackmagic and Panasonic cameras and edit on Davinci Resolve.
